Belmopan. April 5, 2020.

Effective today, April 5th, all borders are also closed to Belizean nationals seeking to enter the country. This decision was made by the Government of Belize with unanimous support from the National Oversight Committee to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Belizeans will only be allowed entry into the country for the purposes of an emergency or seeking emergency medical care.
This new measure will last for the duration of the national state of emergency.

Belizeans in-country are reminded that all borders remain closed for exiting the country.

Ends

Good afternoon from Texas, US. I see the information listed here on your page regarding Belizean Nationals does this also apply to Citizens from other countries?
I have a group scheduled to enter Belize from The U.S. in July.
Is there any news of
1. when the ban will be lifted and if so
2. who will be able to travel to Belize and
3. Will there be any restrictions to travel
Thank you kindly for your time.

The international airport is currently closed. The Government of Belize has not published anything further regarding the countrywide State of Emergency. When they do, we will be sharing that on our website.

Trying to find information about a “possible” flight from American Airlines on May 7th (for which I am not booked on yet)…
Someone (ticket holder for that flight) still tells me their flight is confirmed for May 7th and this “confirmation” is coming from a U.A. employee in the USA.
I have looked on UA website and they currently are taking bookings for those flights BUT.. with a clear message saying that bookings can be changed, at no cost, if the flight is cancelled…. so that leads me to believe it will be cancelled as did the previously “confirmed flights” and will be postponed to an undetermined date…..

Do you have any information on this specific flight or on ANY other flights coming into PGIA early May ??
(As going to Cancun by land is not even an option at this point and Canada doesn’t seem to be planning any flights here to bring Canadians back home)…. this UA flight might be me only chance to leave…
Thanks.

Hello, I am a Belizean student who is currently trying to return home from New Mexico, USA. Do you know of any airlines that are allowed to enter Belize? When will nationals/citizens be allowed to return? And, if we can return, can we self-quarantine and not with the government?

Hi, the international airport is not currently open. We continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the Government of Belize and no new guidelines have been given as it relates to international travel for visitors or Belizeans. I have the ticket for American Airlines flight from Belize to Miami on 07th May, still shows confirmed flight, however it disappear to buy the ticket from America Airlines website, so I am not sure if they sold everything or they will cancel which would be horrible considering there is a lot of foreigners like me which wants to go home…Initially my ticket was with United airlines which transfered me to American airlines on 07Th May.

A dear friends mother passed away(not related to COVID-19) in Belize. Is that considered an emergency? Will she be able to fly into Belize from Los Angeles, CA. U.S.A and then travel back.

Admin May 5. 2020 4:19 pm

Hi Janette,
The airport isn’t open and there are no international flights into the airport at this time.
